IMRELIEF IN PAKISTAN
Country Context
Pakistan has achieved substantial progress in terms of national poverty reduction, and water and sanitation averages. However, due to disparity in urban-rural outcomes, the progress has been overshadowed by a general perception of worsening well-being and rising inequality. IMR can close this gap by stretching the access of food, WASH and health services to rural, remote and difficult-to-reach populations.
Pakistan is among the largest refugee-hosting countries globally, with second- and third-generation of Afghans living in protracted displacement. In addition, the 2022 monsoon season brought floods that triggered nearly 10 million internal displacements, according to IOM. For these populations, seasonal and weather adjustments are the most acute, and require preparedness and responsiveness with food and shelter aid items.
