Our activities are international and US-domestic. IMRelief is working in 14 countries, with primary focus on emergency response, food security, water sanitation and hygiene, and child protection.
Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated and community-oriented Local Project Coordinator to oversee and support the development and implementation of IMRelief’s initiatives in Syria. This role is vital for conducting field-based needs assessments, and coordinating the design and roll-out of local projects that align with IMRelief’s mission and the needs of target communities—particularly in sectors of food security and child protection.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement local development projects in line with IMRelief’s strategic goals, and in coordination with the Regional Program Coordinator based in Turkiye.
- Support the administration, management and successful delivery of existing IMRelief programmes/projects in the country, including contracting and invoicing, reporting, sourcing and mobilisation of resources and skill.
- Conduct regular needs assessments to identify and prioritize community challenges.
- Assist in project scoping and proposal development, including drafting of concept notes.
- Develop and maintain constructive working relationships with local stakeholders, partners, and beneficiaries to ensure inclusive participation and successful project delivery.
- Prepare periodic reports and updates for the Regional Program Coordinator based in Turkiye.
- Monitor and evaluate project progress against objectives and timelines.
- Oversee fund management, including tracking project budgets and coordinating the disbursement of funds in accordance with IMRelief’s financial and operational policies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Community Development, International Relations, or related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in project coordination, preferably in the nonprofit or humanitarian sector.
- Demonstrated understanding of gender-sensitive programming, particularly in women-led household contexts.
- Experience in field research or needs assessment methodologies.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills in both Arabic and English.
- Familiarity with local community dynamics and networks in Syria.
- Able to work independently and manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
Desirable Skills
- Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation frameworks.
- Experience working with marginalized populations, including migrants, single mothers, or refugees.
- Experience with MS-office (MS-Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
